Rouse (J. Chem. Phys. 21, 1272 (1953)) 和 Zimm (J. Chem. Phys. 24, 269 (1956)) 对聚合物链动力学的处理被证明包含一个基本数学错误，该错误导致它们丢失了在粘度和介电弛豫中占主导地位的零弛豫率整体旋转运动。因此，这些模型中被频繁引用的模式解在定性上是错误的。与 Wilson-Decius-Cross 对多原子分子振动模式处理的比较揭示了 Rouse 模型解的正确定性形式。
