研究是什么驱动星系中恒星形成的淬灭,对于理解星系的演化至关重要。Euclid 任务将提供从光学到红外波段的数百万星系的丰富数据,并实现对恒星形成历史的精确测量。利用 Euclid 第一次快速数据发布(Q1),我们开发了一个概率分类框架,结合在两个时间尺度(10810^810910^9 年)上推断的平均比恒星形成率,将星系分类为「衰老」( secularly evolving)、「淬灭」(recently halted star formation)或「退休」(由年老恒星主导)。采用了两种分类方法:一种是概率方法,整合后验分布;另一种是模型驱动方法,利用 IllustrisTNG 优化样本的纯度和完备性。在 z<0.1z<0.1M3×108MM_\ast \gtrsim 3\times10^{8}\,M_\odot 的条件下,我们分别获得了衰老、淬灭和退休群体的 Euclid 分类比例 68–72%、8–17% 和 14–19%。衰老和退休星系分别主导低质量端和高质量端,而淬灭星系在 M1010MM_\ast \lesssim 10^{10}\,\rm M_\odot 时超过退休比例。随红移的演化显示衰老星系比例增加,退休星系比例减少。质量更大的星系通常比低质量星系更早经历淬灭事件。在质量–大小–金属丰度关系方面,衰老星系通常呈现盘状形态和低金属丰度。退休星系表现出致密结构和增强的化学增丰,而淬灭星系形成一个中间群体,比衰老系统更致密且化学演化程度更高。这项工作展示了 Euclid 在阐明驱动星系演化的淬灭机制的物理本质方面的巨大潜力。
