原型史瓦西-库德望远镜对蟹状星云的探测

摘要

史瓦西-库德望远镜(SCT)是为切伦科夫望远镜阵列提出的中型望远镜技术。它采用新颖的双镜光学设计,可消除整个视场中的彗差。SCT相机采用高分辨率硅光电倍增管(SiPM)传感器,像素大小为4角分。一台原型SCT(pSCT)已在美国亚利桑那州弗雷德·劳伦斯·惠普尔天文台建成。2020年使用1600像素部分相机(2.7度乘2.7度视场)的观测活动以8.6 sigma统计显著性探测到蟹状星云。pSCT相机与光学系统的工作正在进行,以改进性能并为即将到来的相机升级做准备。pSCT相机升级将以改进的SiPM和读出电子学替换当前相机模块,并将相机扩展至其全设计视场直径8度(11,328像素)。完全升级的pSCT将通过优异的 backgrounds抑制和角分辨率实现下一代甚高能伽马射线天体物理。在本报告中,我们描述pSCT成功运行的初步结果及未来计划。
