考克斯定理与概率的杰恩斯诠释

摘要

概率论存在多种被提出的诠释:其中一种是不确定性下的真假逻辑。考克斯定理是一个表示定理,它指出,在一组描述不确定性含义的特定公理下,每一种不确定性下的真假逻辑都与条件概率论同构。这一结果被杰恩斯用来发展一个哲学框架,在该框架中,不确定性下的统计推断应通过使用概率,经由贝叶斯规则来进行。不幸的是,大多数现有的考克斯定理正确证明都需要限制性假设:例如,许多证明甚至不适用于掷一对公平骰子这样的简单例子。我们通过用一个公理(即我们的理论必须对重复事件保持一致)替换各种技术性条件,提供了一种新的公理化。我们讨论了我们的结果对概率哲学和统计哲学的影响。
