PandaX-II 实验中中子本底的改进评估

摘要

在暗物质直接探测实验中,中子是一种严重的本底源,可以模拟暗物质-核散射信号。本文通过一种新方法对 PandaX-II 暗物质实验中的中子本底进行了改进评估。该方法并非完全依赖蒙特卡罗模拟,整体中子本底由数据中中子诱发的高能信号确定。此外,使用完整的蒙特卡罗生成器评估了每个中子产生类暗物质本底的概率,其中考虑了 (α\alpha, n) 反应和自发裂变中中子和 γ\gamma 的关联发射。使用该方法,PandaX-II 的 Run 9(26 吨·天)和 Run 10(28 吨·天)数据集中的中子本底估计分别为 0.66±\pm0.24 和 0.47±\pm0.25 个事件。
