本文给出了由 Serge Lang 最初提出的算术版 Riemann-Roch 定理的新证明。Lang 的结果最初是利用 Minkowski 的格点几何证明的。相比之下，我们的证明完全是阿代尔（adelic）的。其概念优势在于，它使用了 Tate 在其论文中证明的 Riemann-Roch 定理的不同类比，其方式类似于利用 Tate 定理证明有限域上曲线的 Riemann-Roch 定理。因此，我们的证明为现存的许多算术中的 Riemann-Roch 理论架起了一座桥梁。
