银河系外星系边缘结构与内容

摘要
星系的外部区域预期包含关于星系组装方式的重要线索。尽管过去对这些部分的定量研究受到严格限制，但现已通过结合大范围星数统计、深入的HST影像和8米级光谱仪器的突破取得了进展。我在此综述了关于M31和M33这些我们最近的大型邻居的外部区域中亚结构、星团和恒星星云的几个最新结果。
