摘要
冥王星系统最近由NASA的新视野号(New Horizons)航天器探测,于2015年7月14日最近接近。冥王星表面展现出多样的地形、地形年龄、反照率、颜色和成分梯度。发现了水冰地壳、地质年轻表面单元、表面冰对流、风纹、挥发性物质迁移和冰川流动的迹象。冥王星大气高度延展,含有微量碳氢化合物、全球霾层和接近10微巴的表面压强。冥王星多样的表层地质和长期活动提出了关于小型行星在形成数十亿年后如何保持活跃的根本问题。冥王星的大卫星冥卫一(Charon)显示出构造活动以及地壳成分不均一的证据,其北极呈现令人困惑的暗色地形。小卫星Hydra和Nix的反照率高于预期。
