基于地基恒星掩星的冥王星低层大气与压强演化(1988–2016)

摘要

背景。冥王星稀薄的氮(N2)大气由于高转轴倾角和轨道偏心率而经历强烈的季节效应,且最近(2015年7月)被 New Horizons 航天器观测到。目标为:(i)构建冥王星表面压强季节演化的良好定标记录;(ii)利用 2015 年观测到的中心闪光照约束低层大气结构。方法:使用 2002 至 2016 年间观测到的十一次冥王星恒星掩星,反演海拔约 5 km 至约 380 km 高度层(即压强从约 10 微巴到 10 纳巴)的大气剖面(密度、压强、温度)。结果:(i)压强从 1988 到 2016 年经历单调增加,与季节挥发性输运模型比较,由此导出对 N2 冰反照率与发射率组合的严格约束;(ii)2015 年 6 月 29 日观测到的中心闪光与 New Horizons REX 剖面一致,前提是(a)在 Sputnik Planitia 上存在大的日温度变化(当前模型未预期)和/或(b)在 4–7 km 高度层存在切向光学深度约 0.3 的霾和/或(c)标称 REX 密度值被高估了约 20% 这一难以置信的大因子和/或(d)较高地形阻挡了面向 Charon 半球的部分闪光。
