摘要
新视野号(New Horizons)飞掠期间进行的观测提供了冥王星大气当前状态的详细快照。虽然低层大气(高度<200 km)与地基恒星掩星观测一致,但高层大气比遭遇前模型所指示的要冷得多且更紧凑。分子氮(N)主导大气(高度<1800 km左右),而甲烷(CH)、乙炔(CH)、乙烯(CH)和乙烷(CH)是丰富的小组分,并可能催生包裹冥王星的广泛雾霾。寒冷的高层大气阻断了预期的增强金斯型、类流体动力学的冥王星大气向太空的逃逸。目前尚不清楚冥王星大气的当前状态是否代表其平均状态——在季节或地质时间尺度上。
