重新思考空间世界建模中的仿真与渲染二元论:没有自由午餐

摘要

空间世界模型是支持对空间关系进行灵活推理的表示,对开发能够在物理世界中运行的计算模型至关重要,但其精确的机制底层因借用了对人类认知不够明确或不合理的账户而变得复杂。本文重访了仿真与渲染二元论,借助视觉失�症的证据论证,细粒度感知内容对基于模型的空间推理至关重要。drawing on recent research into the neural basis of visual awareness, we propose that spatial simulation and perceptual experience depend on shared representational geometries captured by higher-order indices of perceptual relations. We argue that recent developments in embodied AI support this claim, where rich perceptual details improve performance on physics-based world engagements. To this end, we call for the development of architectures capable of maintaining structured perceptual representations as a step toward spatial world modelling in AI.
