本文回顾了最终形成 Yang-Mills 理论的规范理论的发展，以及包括纤维丛上联络在内的微分几何在场论中的应用。最后，我们展示了如何利用上述内容来解释 2005 年 5 月发行的 Feynman 邮票上出现的 Feynman 图。版本 2 包含了 Feynman 图，版本 3 修正了排版错误，版本 4 增加了一个用于推导 Yang-Mills 变换和场强的附录。版本 5 指出本文已发表于《Notices of the AMS》，并于 2009 年 7 月以中文翻译版发表于中国科学院的一份期刊。该版本还修正了一些排版错误，并在附录中增加了对 Yang-Mills 场强的启发式推导。
