利用H.E.S.S.望远镜阵列重新审视Westerlund 2天区

摘要

目的。先前利用H.E.S.S.望远镜阵列的观测揭示了与年轻星团Westerlund 2位置重合的延展甚高能(VHE; E>100 GeV)γ射线发射源HESS J1023-575。在发现时,观测到的发射起源尚未明确识别,因此进行了后续观测以进一步研究该γ射线源的性质。方法。对朝向疏散星团Westerlund 2的Carina区域进行了重新观测,将总曝光时间增加到45.9小时。合并的数据集包括33小时的新数据,现在允许搜索能量依赖的形态和进行详细的光谱分析。结果。发现了一个新的、硬谱VHE γ射线源HESS J1026-582,统计显著性为7σ。它与Fermi LAT脉冲星PSR J1028-5819位置重合。位置重合以及LAT脉冲星的射电/γ射线特征支持TeV发射起源于脉冲星风云的图景。结合深入的H.E.S.S.观测和最近的多波段发现(包括Fermi LAT脉冲星PSR J1022-5746和该区域的巨分子云),讨论了HESS J1023-575的性质。尽管VHE数据集有所改进,但仍无法明确识别产生HESS J1023-575 VHE发射的天体,来自附近高能脉冲星和/或疏散星团的贡献仍然是一种可能性。
