使用H.E.S.S.望远镜阵列对与Fermi-LAT -射线双星1FGL J1018.6-5856重合的甚高能(VHE)源HESS J1018-589 A的重新观测,导致了超过9的源探测显著性,以及发射的-射线流中变异性(/为238.3/155)的探测。该变异性确认了HESS J1018-589 A与Fermi-LAT探测到的高能-射线双星的关联,并确认该点源是一个新的甚高能双星系统。HESS J1018-589 A的能谱最好用幂律函数拟合,光子指数。发射一直探测到约20 TeV。在1 TeV处的平均微分流强为 TeV cm s,相当于相同能量下蟹状星云流强的约1%。在逐夜光变曲线中清晰探测到变异性。当按照16.58天的轨道周期折叠时,重分箱光变曲线与观测到的X射线和高能相位图同相达到峰值。将H.E.S.S.相位图拟合为恒定流强,提供了3水平的周期性证据。VHE相位图的形状和测量的能谱表明这是一个低倾角、低偏心率的系统,由于对产生导致的VHE -射线吸收影响较小(在300 GeV处 < 1)。
