摘要
本文重新审视了弗朗西斯·高尔顿于 1907 年发表的文章中描述的一项体重估算竞赛的数据。在修正了一些错误之后，表明该预测竞赛是统计预测文献中两个较新发展的有趣先驱。一个是预测组合，此处的平均预测恰好与结果一致；另一个是使用双件频率分布和概率分布来描述不对称性。
