摘要
LUX-ZEPLIN(LZ)实验是一个暗物质直接探测实验,通过WIMP-核子相互作用优化搜索弱相互作用大质量粒子(WIMPs)。暗物质探测的主要挑战是区分WIMP信号和本底事件。在LZ中,电离与闪烁信号之比(电荷-光比)是排斥电子反冲(ER)本底的主要方法。脉冲形状鉴别(PSD)为液氙探测器中额外的ER本底排斥提供了一种方法。在本文中,讨论了LZ实验中PSD的鉴别能力。为了精确表征闪烁脉冲形状,开发了一个分析框架来重建单个光子的探测时间。利用LZ校准数据,光子定时前段鉴别器得到优化,实现了低至15%的ER泄漏。对于¹²⁴Xe双电子捕获等特定本底过程,泄漏进一步降低至约5%。PSD与电荷-光比结合形成双因子鉴别(TFD)。优化后的TFD性能与电荷-光比方法的性能进行了比较,对于大闪烁脉冲,相应的误报率降低了最多两倍。最后,PSD和TFD被应用于LZ的WS2024运行数据,并总结了其性能。
