软X射线瞬变星的外涨幅

摘要
我们发现软X射线瞬变星（轨道周期小于1天）的光度外涨幅与轨道周期之间存在强相关性。通过拟合8个X射线瞬变星的观测值，我们确定了一个经验公式，可用于仅凭外涨幅预测X射线瞬变星的轨道周期：。对于周期小于12小时的情形，我们确定了盘在外涨期间的绝对光度关系，从而允许我们估算这些天体的距离。
