离散原子系统完备连续Wigner函数的测量

摘要

我们测量了一个二能级铯原子在近纯态和高度混合态下的完备连续Wigner函数。我们应用了严格构造量子比特或自旋系统连续Wigner函数的方法[T. Tilma et al., Phys. Rev. Lett. 117, 180401 (2016)]。我们发现,量子比特所有纯态的Wigner函数均具有负值区域,且当任意混合态的纯度低于23\frac{2}{3}时,负值性完全消失。我们利用囚禁在光偶极阱中的单个铯原子(经历近纯退相位过程)实验验证了这些发现。我们的方法可直接应用于多原子系统,以测量其集体自旋态的Wigner函数。

It is shown that the negativity of this newly defined Wigner function (for arbitrary spin systems) is closely related to the purity of the state, but the interpretation of its physical meaning deserves further studies (not as apparent as in the CV case). Accepted by PRA
