IW And 于 2001 年 12 月 6 日至 2002 年 3 月 25 日期间观测了 55 个夜晚。这些观测明确表明该对象为 Z Cam 型矮 nova。IW And 在 Z Cam 星中站立状态的工作比例异常高。IW And 似乎是首个填补经典 Z Cam 星与无星状 (NL) 星之间的间隙的天体。
