HerMES: 基于SPIRE科学验证阶段观测的P(D)涨落分析得出的深场星系计数

尘埃恒星形成星系对明亮但尚未分辨的宇宙远红外背景有贡献。旨在探测和表征构成该背景的星系的深场Herschel-SPIRE图像高度混淆,使得大部分源位于经典混淆极限以下。我们分析了HerMES计划中三个SPIRE波段(250、350和500微米)的三个天区;使用P(D)(偏转概率)方法,将参数化的星系计数模型推导至约2 mJy/波束的深度,约为这些波长上先前分析深度的4倍,以便与理论计数模型进行比较。我们的拟合分别解释了三个波段中远红外背景的64%、60%和43%。这些计数与基于单个探测到的SPIRE源的计数一致,但与大多数星系计数模型普遍不一致,这些模型通常高估了亮星系的数量,并且不如P(D)推导的计数陡峭。在低流量密度处发现了微分计数斜率断裂的明确证据。探讨了P(D)分析中的系统效应。我们发现成团效应对数据的影响较小,最大的已识别系统误差来自SPIRE波束的不确定性。
