HerMES:在GOODS-N场中SPIRE探测到的高红移大质量致密星系

我们利用赫歇尔空间天文台上的光谱与光度成像接收器(SPIRE)仪器,分析了GOODS北场中红移2<z<3的大质量(Mstar > 10^11Msun)星系的静止系远红外(FIR)性质。为进行此分析,我们利用了HerMES关键项目的数据。样本包含45个大质量星系,其结构参数由HST NICMOS-3表征。我们研究了亚毫米赫歇尔波段的探测结果,以及斯皮策24微米数据,作为形态类型、质量和尺寸的函数。我们发现26/45个源在MIPS-24微米波段被探测到,15/45个源(均为MIPS-24微米探测源)在SPIRE-250微米波段被探测到,盘状星系更容易被探测到。我们通过拟合源的能谱分布(SED)推导出恒星形成率(SFR)和比恒星形成率(sSFR),并考虑了SPIRE的非探测和MIPS推导量的系统效应。我们发现球状星系的平均SFR(50-100 Msun*yr^-1)显著低于盘状星系(250-300 Msun*yr^-1)的平均值(约3倍)。
