GRAVITY+ Wide:迈向数百个红移约 2 的 AGN

摘要

作为 GRAVITY+^{+} 项目的一部分,近红外光束合成器 GRAVITY 与 VLTI 目前正在经历一系列重大升级,以进一步提升性能与天区覆盖。这些仪器变革将是变革性的,例如使 GRAVITY 能够独特地观测红移为二及更高的数百个活动星系核(AGN)的宽线区。天区覆盖的增加通过将天体科学目标(SC)与离轴条纹跟踪(FT)星之间的最大角间距从当前的 2 角秒(arcsec)扩大到前所未有的 30 角秒(受大气条件限制)来实现。这在 VLTI 上已首次成功演示。
