GRAVITY: 接近人马座A*事件视界

我们介绍了第二代VLTI仪器GRAVITY,目前正处于初步设计阶段。GRAVITY专门设计用于观测银河系中心大质量黑洞人马座A*事件视界附近物质的高度相对论性运动。我们确定了实现这一目标所需的关键设计特征,并提出了相应的仪器概念。该概念包括:集成光学、四望远镜、双光束馈送组合器(在低温容器中运行);近红外波前传感自适应光学;对VLTI视场内次级源的条纹跟踪;以及一种新颖的计量学概念。模拟表明,计划的设计符合科学需求;特别是,对于像人马座A*这样K=15星等的源,在存在合适的相位参考源的情况下,10微角秒的天体测量是可行的。
