Lennard（2013）[Fingerprint identification: how far have we come? Aus J Forensic Sci. doi:10.1080/00450618.2012.752037] 提出，统计模型的数值输出不应在法庭上呈现（除非“必要时”/“需要时”）。相反，他主张一种“专家意见”，其可受统计模型启发但本身并非统计模型的输出。我们认为，他所提议的程序缺乏基于相关数据、定量测量和统计模型的似然比方法所具有的透明度、有效性与可靠性检验的便利性，以及对认知偏差的相对鲁棒性，因此后者更可取。
