癫痫性发作是脑内异常的神经元活动，影响全球近7000万人口(Ngugi等，2010)。许多开源神经影像工具被用于代谢检查与分析。本文阐释了MATLAB、Slicer 3D、Brain Suite21a、SPM及MedCalc等开源工具的范围。60%的研究者使用MATLAB进行图像处理，其中10%使用其专有软件。超过30%的研究者使用其他开源软件工具及其处理技术来研究磁共振癫痫图像。
