所有快速射电暴都会重复吗?来自 CHIME/FRB 远旁瓣快速射电暴的约束

我们报道了加拿大氢强度映射实验(CHIME)在 2018年8月28日至2021年8月31日期间于远旁瓣区域(即距子午线 5\geq 5^\circ)探测到的十个快速射电暴(FRBs)。我们通过用 CHIME/FRB 合成波束响应模型拟合其频谱来对爆发现位进行定位。我们发现远旁瓣事件的平均流量约为 CHIME 主瓣探测事件的 ~500 倍。这表明旁瓣样本在统计上比主瓣样本近约 20 倍。我们为其中两个 FRB(20190112B 和 20210310B)找到了有希望的主星系候选(Pcc_{\rm cc} < 1%),距离分别为 38 和 16 Mpc。在总计 35580 小时的曝光时间内,CHIME/FRB 未观测到这 10 个旁瓣 FRB 均匀样本中类似亮度的重复。在泊松分布爆发的假设下,我们推断远旁瓣事件探测阈值以上的平均重复间隔长于 11880 小时,这至少比已知 CHIME/FRB 探测到的重复源间隔大 2380 倍,但存在一些注意事项,特别是可能漏掉了极窄带事件。这些远旁瓣事件的结果暗示两种情形之一:要么(1)所有 FRB 都会重复且重复间隔跨度很大,高重复率源为罕见子群体;要么(2)非重复 FRB 是与已知重复源不同的独立群体。
