来自快速射电暴源的周期性活动

摘要

快速射电暴(FRBs)是源自河外距离的明亮、毫秒量级持续时间的射电暂现源。其起源未知。一些 FRB 源发射重复暴,排除了这些事件的灾难性起源。尽管已在从毫秒到多天的重复暴到达时间尺度上搜索周期性,但这些暴迄今被观测为偶发出现,虽成团但无规律模式。在此我们报告由加拿大氢强度测绘实验快速射电暴项目(CHIME/FRB)探测到的重复 FRB 180916.J0158+65 存在 16.35±0.1516.35\pm0.15 天的周期性(或可能是该周期性的更高频混叠)。在 2018 年 9 月 16 日至 2020 年 2 月 4 日记录的 38 次暴中,我们发现所有暴均到达于一个 5 天的相位窗口内,且 50% 的暴到达于一个 0.6 天的相位窗口内。我们的结果暗示了一种对暴发射本身或通过外部放大或吸收进行周期调制的机制,并排除了纯偶发过程的模型。
