DIRAC 实验是一个磁性双臂谱仪，旨在利用 CERN 质子同步加速器的高强度 24 GeV/c 质子束，以 10% 的精度测量 原子寿命。由于该寿命值约为 ~s，由低能强相互作用决定，因此对该量的精确测量能够详细研究特征性π介子参数，并对 QCD 的预言进行严格检验。
