我们讨论了将最大似然方法应用于 CMB 的问题，以及如何使其既有效又最优。解决方案是求解一个广义特征值问题，它几乎不损失有关所估计参数的任何信息，却可允许对数据集进行显著压缩。我们讨论了同时估计多个参数的更困难问题，并提出了解决方案。本工作的更完整阐述可参考 (Tegmark, Taylor & Heavens 1997)。
