CERN 轴子太阳望远镜(CAST)已通过使用 3He 作为缓冲气体扩展了其对太阳轴子的搜寻。在 T=1.8 K 的温度下,这允许设置更大的气压,从而比我们之前使用 4He 的测量能探测到更高的轴子质量。通过在 252 个不同气压设置下各采集约 1 小时的数据,我们扫描了轴子质量范围 0.39 eV < m_a < 0.64 eV。根据磁体指向太阳时没有观测到过量 X 射线,我们设定了轴子-光子耦合的典型上限为 g_ag < 2.3 x 10^{-10} GeV^{-1}(95% 置信水平),确切值取决于气压设置。KSVZ 轴子在我们质量范围的上端被排除,这是任何太阳轴子搜寻实验中的首次。未来我们将把搜寻扩展到 m_a < 1.15 eV,从而与宇宙学热暗物质界限舒适地重叠。
