基于Xe气体的CAST探测器的全新轴子-光子耦合上限

摘要

假想轴子为暗物质提供了引人注目的解释,可能来自炽热的太阳内部。猷乐团轴子太阳望远镜(CAST)通过轴子在9特斯拉、10米长的磁场中转化为X射线光子来搜索太阳轴子。我们报告了在IAXO(国际轴子观测站)前哨探测器上的一次延长运行的结果,暴露时间翻倍。该探测器在新的运行部分使用氦神气混合物运行,为IAXO未来的探测器配置提供了技术见解。新运行中,在覆盖95%信号区域内未检测到任何计数,而预期为0.75。新数据将轴子-光子耦合限制提高至95%置信水平下5.8×10⁻¹¹ GeV⁻¹(对应质量m_a≲0.02 eV),为目前最严格的实验限制。
