WASP-4b:南半球一颗12星等的凌日热木星

摘要

我们报告了WASP-4b的发现,这是一颗具有1.34天轨道周期的大型凌日气态巨行星。这是SuperWASP-South观测台和CORALIE合作组发现的第一颗行星,也是南半球发现的第一颗轨道恒星亮于16星等的行星。通过对高质量光变曲线和精确径向速度测量的同时拟合,得到行星质量为1.22±0.1 MJup,行星半径为1.42±0.08 RJup。宿主恒星为USNO-B1.0 0479-0948995,是一颗视星等12.5的G7V恒星。由于轨道周期较短,该行星的预测表面温度为1776 K,使其成为在红外波段探测二次食的理想候选体。
