早型星系速度离散函数

摘要
使用来自SDSS数据库的样本测量了早型星系速度离散的分布，phi(sigma)。其形状与仅仅使用光度L与速度离散sigma之间的平均相关性来将光度函数转化为速度函数的结果显著不同：忽略sigma-L关系周围的散点是一个糟糕的近似。还估计了来自后期型星系的贡献，这表明phi(sigma)在约200 km/s以上的速度处主要由早型星系主导。
