欧洲脉冲星计时阵列第二次数据发布 III. 引力波信号搜寻

摘要

我们给出了利用欧洲脉冲星计时阵列(EPTA)25 颗毫秒脉冲星的第二次数据发布以及其与印度脉冲星计时阵列(InPTA)第一次数据发布的联合,在纳赫兹频率搜寻各向同性随机引力波背景(GWB)的结果。我们分析了(i)完整的 24.7 年 EPTA 数据集,(ii)其基于现代观测系统的 10.3 年子集,(iii)完整数据集与 InPTA 十颗共同计时毫秒脉冲星第一次数据发布的联合,以及(iv)10.3 年子集与 InPTA 数据的联合。这些组合使我们能够探测仪器噪声与星际传播效应的贡献。对于完整数据集,我们发现 GWB 的边缘证据,贝叶斯因子为 4,误报概率为 4%4\%。对于 10.3 年子集,我们报告了 GWB 的证据,贝叶斯因子为 6060,误报概率约为 0.1%0.1\%3σ\gtrsim 3\sigma 显著性)。加入 InPTA 数据得到的结果与仅 EPTA 的数据集大体一致,且受益于更好的噪声建模。分析使用不同数据处理流水线进行,以检验独立软件包结果的一致性。来自新一代观测系统的最新 EPTA 数据推断的谱相当不确定,并与完整数据集中测量的公共信号存在轻微张力。然而,若谱指数固定为 13/3,两个数据集在 1yr11\,{\rm yr}^{-1} 参考频率处给出相似振幅((2.5±0.7)×1015(2.5\pm0.7)\times10^{-15})。作为国际脉冲星计时阵列(IPTA)的一部分继续我们的探测工作,我们预计在未来几年能够改进空间相关性的测量并更好地刻画该信号。
