非凡的高温 R 型北冕座（RCB）恒星 DY Cen 被揭示为在 R 型北冕座恒星及其可能的亲属（包括极端氦星和缺氢碳星）中发现的第一个也是唯一一个双星系统。1982 年至 2010 年的视向速度测定表明，DY Cen 是一个处于偏心轨道、周期为 39.67 天的单谱线光谱双星。它也是 RCB 恒星类中最热且富氢程度最高的成员之一。该系统可能从一个共有包层演化成了当前的形态。
