Bose-Hubbard模型是对玻色固体的良好定义描述，可能适用于周期性光学晶格中的冷原子。我们证明，与公认理论相反，它永远不可能以完美的Mott绝缘体固体作为基态，并且它具有涡旋状相位波动的低能谱。基态是否必然是公度的仍然是一个悬而未决的问题。
