ELT-MOS(MOSAIC):迈向建造阶段

摘要

当与ELT的巨大集光面积结合时,MOSAIC将成为全球最高效灵活的多目标光谱仪(MOS)设施,兼具高复用与多积分视场单元(Multi-IFU)能力。它将是光谱学跟进最暗弱源、探测再电离时期以及评估宇宙大部分年龄内矮星质量函数演化的最快途径。MOSAIC将在绘制暗物质(通过MOAO馈入的NIR IFU获得的真实旋转曲线)与z=3.5星系晕中冷至温-热气体相(通过可见光IFU)的清单方面世界领先。银河系考古与首批大质量黑洞是MOSAIC同样将带来革命性突破的附加目标。MOAO与光纤精确天空相减现已在天文观测上演示成功,从该仪器去除了所有低技术就绪水平(TRL)项。MOSAIC的迅速实施可行,且因不需衍射极限自适应光学性能,实则可增加ELT稳健性并降低风险。科学计划与巡天策略正由合作组研究,其亦希望在今后两年欢迎若干新伙伴。
