MOSAIC:用于极大望远镜的高复用多积分视场单元光谱仪

摘要

MOSAIC 是计划用于 39 米极大望远镜(ELT)的多目标光谱仪。作为一台多用途仪器,它在可见光与近红外波段提供高复用与多 IFU(积分视场单元)能力,并具有一系列从中等至高的光谱分辨本领。MOSAIC 将实现对最暗弱源的独特光谱巡天,从银河系内及更远的最古老恒星,到完成宇宙再电离的首批星系族群——同时开辟广阔的发现空间。本文介绍了该仪器在 B 阶段之前的状态,展示了关键科学目标,并介绍了更新后的一组顶层需求与所采用的架构。较高的成熟度将使 MOSAIC 很快进入建造阶段,目标是在望远镜首次光之后尽快为 ELT 用户提供一个世界级的 MOS(多目标光谱)能力。
