椭圆星系尘埃与气体的分布

我们检讨了 IRAS 和近期光学 CCD 调查结果,以讨论椭圆星系尘埃和离子化气体的分布及来源。与旋星系的情况形成鲜明对比,椭圆星系从光学消光推导的尘埃质量约为 IRAS 数据推导的尘埃质量的一个数量级更低。我通过假设椭圆星系存在一分布均匀的尘埃成分,该成分在光学数据中不可检测,从而解决了这一困境。尘埃带的形态及其与离子化气体的关联,论证了 ISM 两种组成部分都来自外部。
