X 射线积分视场单元(X-IFU)是 ESA Athena X 射线天文台的高分辨率 X 射线光谱仪。在等效直径 5' 的视场内,它将在约 5 角秒像素上提供 0.2 至 12 keV 的 X 射线光谱,光谱分辨率在 7 keV 以下为 2.5 eV。X-IFU 基于大面积超导钼-金过渡边缘传感器(TES)阵列,冷却至约 90 mK,每个传感器与由金和铋制成的吸收体耦合,节距为 249 微米。位于主 TES 阵列下方的低温反符合探测器可将非 X 射线本底降低。约 50 mK 的浴温由一系列机械制冷机获得,其组合了 15K 脉冲管、4K 与 2K 焦耳-汤姆逊制冷机,用以预冷由 3He 吸附制冷机与绝热去磁制冷机组成的亚开尔文制冷机。频域复用技术可在单一通道中读出 40 个像素。光子与吸收体相互作用产生电流脉冲,由读出电子学放大,其形状在轨重建以高精度恢复能量。Athena 可移动镜组件提供的离焦能力使 X-IFU 能够通过将望远镜点扩散函数散布至数百像素来观测天空中最亮的 X 射线源(可达 Crab 类强度)。因此,X-IFU 在低堆积、高吞吐量(>50%)下,于 1 Crab 强度时典型光谱分辨率为 10 eV,即比基于硅的 X 射线探测器好一个数量级或更多。本文介绍了当前的 X-IFU 基线,并评估了其在光谱分辨率、本底与计数率能力方面的预期性能。X-IFU 基线配置将于 2018 年底接受初步需求评审。
