利用茂纳凯亚光谱探测仪(MSE)开展恒星天体物理与系外行星科学

摘要

茂纳凯亚光谱探测仪(MSE)是一台规划中的 11.25 米口径、视场 1.5 平方度的设备,将完全致力于多目标光谱学。作为茂纳凯亚山上 3.6 米加拿大–法国–夏威夷望远镜的重生,MSE 将使用 4332 根光纤,在 0.36–1.8 μm 波长范围内以三种分辨本领(R ~ 2500、6000、40000)工作,并具备动态光纤定位能力,可使光纤匹配单个目标的曝光时间。MSE 将通过每年收集数百万条光谱、暗至 g ~ 20–24 mag 极限星等,并以高分辨模式下达 ~100 m/s 标称速度精度,实现前所未有的规模与灵敏度的光谱巡天。本白皮书描述了利用 MSE 的恒星天体物理与系外行星科学案例,包括系外行星与亚恒星天体的发现及大气刻画、星团的恒星物理、类太阳振荡体与不透明度驱动脉动体的星震学、恒星自转/活动/ multiplicity 研究,以及 AGB 与极贫金属星的化学刻画。
