Sloan Digital Sky Survey 对多个百平方度的区域进行了五个宽带颜色的成像。我们绘制了恒星天体的颜色-颜色图,并展示了类星体与恒星通过其独特的颜色进行区分的显著性。跟随 spectroscopy 在不到十个夜晚的望远镜时间内,我们发现了 22 个新的类星体,其中 9 个的红移大于 3.65,一个红移为 4.75,是目前已知的第二高红移类星体。大约 80% 的通过颜色选取的高红移类星体候选对象确实显示为高红移类星体。
