斯普特尼克平原的重新定向暗示冥王星存在地下海洋

摘要

冥王星上被深厚氮冰覆盖的斯普特尼克平原(SP;非正式名称)盆地位于非常接近冥王星潮汐轴经度的位置[1],并且通过与太阳系中其他大型盆地的类比,可能是一个撞击特征[2,3,4]。由潮汐和自转力矩引起的重新定向[5-7]可以解释 SP 的位置,但这要求它是一个正重力异常[7],尽管其地形为负。本文我们认为,如果 SP 通过撞击形成且冥王星拥有地下海洋,则由于壳层减薄和海洋隆起,随后再有适度的 N2 沉积,正重力异常将自然产生。若无地下海洋,正重力异常将要求厚得难以置信的 N2 层(大于 40 km)。需要刚性的、传导性的冰壳来使此类海洋的寿命延续至今[8]并维持海洋隆起。由于 N2 沉积具有纬度依赖性[9],氮加载与重新定向可能表现出复杂的反馈[7]。
