Pismis 24-1：恒星质量上限得以保持

是否存在恒星质量上限？近期的统计工作似乎表明存在，且位于约150太阳质量附近。本文我们利用 HST 与地面观测数据来调查簇星 Pismis 24 中最亮的成员，其中一个（Pismis 24-1）此前被推断质量超过200太阳质量，与该限制 apparent 矛盾。我们确定 Pismis 24-1 由至少三个对象组成：解析的 Pismis 24-1SW 以及解析不了的光谱双星 Pismis 24-1NE。Pismis 24-1SW、解析不了的系统 Pismis 24-1NE 以及附近星 Pismis 24-17 的进化零年质量大约为100太阳质量，虽然非常大，但在恒星质量上限以下。
