ALICE 前向量能器电磁与强子原型段性能

摘要

我们展示了 ALICE 前向量能器(FoCal)全长度原型的性能。该探测器由硅-钨电磁采样量能器(纵向与横向分段,FoCal-E,约 20X0X_0)和强子铜-闪烁光纤量能器(FoCal-H,约 5λint\lambda_{\rm int})组成。数据于 2021 至 2023 年间在 CERN PS 与 SPS 束流线上获取,强子(电子)束流能量最高达 350(300)GeV。关于 FoCal-E,我们报告了所有 pad 层对最小电离粒子的响应的全面分析。电磁簇射的纵向簇射分布以 1X0X_0 的逐层分段测量。作为最终探测器在电磁簇射中性能的预估,我们展示了全能量范围内的线性,并表明能量分辨率满足物理需求。此外,通过量化横向簇射宽度研究了分辨双簇射事件的性能。关于 FoCal-H,我们报告了其对 60 至 350 GeV 强子束流响应的详细分析。结果与用测试束流装置的 Geant4 模型获得的模拟进行比较,其中尤其 FoCal-E 与数据吻合良好。FoCal-E 的能量分辨率在能量大于 100 GeV 时低于 3%。FoCal-H 对强子束流的响应呈线性,但存在显著截距,约为模拟值的 2 倍。其分辨率非高斯且普遍大于模拟值,使用 FWHM 量化,从 100 GeV 时约 16% 降至 350 GeV 时约 11%。与模拟的差异(在低强子能量处尤为明显)需进一步研究。
