On $c$-embedded subgroups of finite groups

Abstract

Let GG be a group and HKGH \le K \le G. We say that HH is cc-embedded in GG with respect to KK if there is a subgroup BB of GG such that G=HBG = HB and HBZ(K)H \cap B \le Z(K). Given a finite group GG, a prime number pp and a Sylow pp-subgroup PP of GG, we investigate the structure of GG under the assumption that NG(P)N_G(P) is pp-supersolvable or pp-nilpotent and that certain cyclic subgroups of PP with order pp or 44 are cc-embedded in GG with respect to PP. New characterizations of pp-supersolvability and pp-nilpotence of finite groups will be obtained.
