我们通过数值模拟研究了椭圆 - 旋涡星系并合遗迹的运动学特征。反向旋转既可能出现在共面并合中，也可能出现在非共面逆行并合中，且主要与保留部分初始自旋的盘状分量有关。反过来，由于潮汐力的作用，两个相互作用星系的外部区域会获得部分轨道角动量。
