展示了 T^4 上异质理论的某些微扰非 BPS 态与 K3 上 IIA 型 orbifold 极限的非微扰非 BPS 态之间的关系。相关态包括一条非 BPS D-弦，以及一个 BPS D-粒子（‘D-分子’）的非 BPS 束缚态。确定并比较了这些态在两种理论中的稳定域。
