观测到的中微子混合，具有接近最大的大气中微子混合角和大太阳混合角，接近于三双最大混合，这使得轻子混合与夸克扇区的小混合形成对比。我们讨论了一个模型，其中Delta(27)(SU(3)的子群)是族对称性，三双最大混合直接源于由离散对称性所强制的真空结构。该模型解释了观测到的夸克和轻子质量以及CKM矩阵，并且与一个潜在的大统一阶段相一致。
