通过 X 射线吸收光谱确定了 TbMn2O5 的温度依赖性局域结构。发现了一个异常的 Tb-O 分布。在高温下它很宽，但在大约 180 K 以下分解为两个不同的峰。在 Tb 磁有序温度（约 10 K）以下，分布变窄。Tb-O 分布中偏离 Pbam 结构的畸变与 MnOx 多面体绕 c 轴的旋转一致，并表明 Tb-O 键极化可能在该系统观察到的铁电性质中起重要作用。
